- First of all - You have to be at least 15 years of age or a first-time driver. If so, you are required to take a Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (T.L.S.A.E.) course to get your permit.
- Second of all - This course, also known as First Time Driver Course or Alcohol Drugs Accident Prevention Training (A.D.A.P.T.), is approved by the State of Florida.
- Third of all - The course is 4 hours long. There are 4 chapters. Each chapter has a 10 question, multiple-choice quiz at the end.

How Does This Work?
Recently, the State of Florida passed a law that allows First Time Drivers who have successfully completed a First Time Driver Course the privilege of taking the Florida Permit Test online. There are a few conditions however.- 1)You must take the online Florida Permit Test from the same company you took the online Drug Alcohol Traffic Education course.
- 2)You have three chances to pass the Florida Permit Test. (But Don’t Worry – Remember, when you sign up we give you a FREE 50-question Florida Permit Practice Test Package so you can be extra sure to pass the online exam.)
- 3)If you fail, you can still try again. Unfortunately, you’ll have to go to the DMV to take the exam.

Florida First Time Driver Course Online
When you take your First Time Driver Course online, you'll get to study at your own pace, which means you'll be able to learn and remember more because you'll never feel rushed to complete the course. Once you get your learner's license, you'll have to abide by certain restrictions:
- You may only drive during daylight hours for the first three months
- After three months, you can only drive until 10:00pm
- You must always have a licensed adult over the age of 21 in the front passenger seat
To get your intermediate driver's license, you must:
- Have your learner's license for a year (with no traffic violations)
- Be 16 years old
- Have driven a total of 50 hours, 10 of which need to be at night
- Have your driving log signed by your parent/guardian as proof that you completed your hours
